A private chapel was commissioned to Isabelle Arpagian to create a unique oriental painted decor on the round wall and the ceiling measuring 6m x 12m. Through exchanges with the client, this project presented several challenges: size, technique, and history. The rich Arab culture in the art of mathematics, the magic of Arabic poetry, and colors are integrated into this project, and the challenge has been successfully met. The decor is positioned according to geographical stars to reflect the impression of being in the desert during a pilgrimage to holy and sacred Eastern places. An Arabic poem about Allah and the birth of light is written all around the chapel. This entire 12m decor is created on 8 canvases in the Atelier and mounted on-site. The ceiling, featuring 400 gold leaf stars, is also completed on-site.
